short ankle injury advice

[from rsd, 2005]

Another PT addition...
Once you can do so without pain, find a patch of grass to throw with a
partner while barefoot. Simple motions without the support of shoes will
tend to re-engage muscles and strengthen connections that can help you get
back to normal.

Once you can comfortably throw around while barefoot, you can try doing
some light, easy plyos (slides, karaokes, highknees, etc) while barefoot
to work the small stabilizers even a bit more.

The vast majority of players stop rehabbing once they can play again. If
you can muster the discipline to continue the strengthening you will get
stronger quicker and for longer. And if you can't, well, at least you will
have company nursing your reinjured ankle.
